SmCLm, a rainwater recovery tank installed at Roumégoux (15)

As part of the LIFE Eau&Climat project, the Syndicat mixte Célé - Lot médian (SmCLm) has carried out work to install rainwater recovery systems in several communes.

During the summer of 2024, the rural Cantalien commune of Roumégoux had a 10,000 liters rainwater recovery tank installed at the foot of its future communal technical premises.

The mayor, Mr Laccarière, is very pleased with the joint initiative undertaken by the Syndicat Célé - Lot médian for the volunteer communes in its catchment area, and points out that ‘this is a project that is in tune with the times, that makes sense and that will serve us well’.

Indeed, in the context of climate change, the effects are already visible for this municipality located at an altitude of 600 m. Summers come and go, and no two are alike. ‘From one year to the next, we no longer know whether there will be water restrictions during the summer, a dry winter that won't recharge the water tables, or just the opposite : lots of water! Although the average annual rainfall in the municipality is high (1,200mm/year), it is increasingly unevenly distributed over the year.

This is why the municipality has committed to this grouped project, financed as part of the LIFE Eau&Climat project.
