Adaptation to climate change is an important issue in water resources management. The LIFE Eau&Climat project aims to help the local water resource managers to improve their knowledge and to mobilize them on this issue. Coordinated by the International Office for Water (OiEau), it gathers 14 partners including local water management organizations and scientific and technical structures. The project started on September 1, 2020 for a period of 4 years.

Key figures of the projectThe LIFE Eau&Climat project - Supporting long-term local decision-making for climate-adapted Water Management (LIFE19 GIC/FR/001259) – has been initiated on September 1st, 2020 for a period of 4 years. The objective is to help the local water resource managers, in particular for the SAGE (Schémas d’Aménagement et de Gestion des Eaux – Water Development and Management Plan), to assess the effects of climate change, to take them into consideration in their planning tools and to implement adaptation measures.

The total budget of the project is 3.7 million euros. 2 million euros are financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, with co-financing from the Water Agencies and the Agency for ecological transition (ADEME)

  2. Facilitate the mobilization of local stakeholder through recommandations based on an analysis of practices;
  3. Improve access to hydro-climatic data with the provision of online data and recommendations on collection and valorization of data;
  4. Strengthen the knowledge transfer and exchanges between researchers and managers, in particular to assist in decision-making;
  5. Ensure replicability and transferability of results.
