EPTB Vienne has produced a guide to adapting to climate change as part of the LIFE Eau&Climat project. Intended for municipalities and inter-municipalities, it includes action sheets for limiting the impact of climate change on water resources.
The guide “Water resources and climate change: adaptation solutions” has been drawn up on the basis of a study of past and future climate trends in the Vienne river basin, and their implications for water resources, carried out at the scale of the Vienne river basin. Its purpose is to present the main levers of action for adapting territories to manage the climate crises that are looming.
Intended for the communes and intercommunalités of the Vienne basin, it has been designed to meet the needs of these beneficiaries. The Charente Limousine community of communes was involved in writing the document, to ensure that the guide was both operational and in line with the expectations of an intercommunality.
The guide is divided into 2 main sections :
- The first is devoted to a summary of the results of the prospective study on climate change and its effects on water resources in the Vienne river basin, carried out as part of the LIFE Eau&Climat project. The aim of this section is to help elected representatives take ownership of the results, by presenting the projected changes in an area with which they are familiar.
- The second part is devoted more specifically to the action sheets. Each sheet has been designed to follow the same format, presenting the action, the conditions of implementation and highlighting examples of implementation.
