SMEAG is organising a series of webinars entitled ‘Les vendredis de l'E.A.U.’ (‘Fridays of E.A.U.’) on behalf of the Local Water Commission of the Garonne Valley SAGE. (Water Urban Planning). Between September 2024 and April 2025, seven webinars will be held on subjects relating to water management and land-use planning in the context of climate change.

The Garonne Valley SAGE is one of the demonstration areas for the LIFE Eau&Climat project, which aims to better adapt the Garonne Valley to the consequences of global warming, as already highlighted by the Garonne 2050 prospective study. Given the issues at stake and the large number of urban planning documents (SCoT and PLU(i)) within the SAGE perimeter, it is essential to be able to support all the territories in this transition. After more than four years of coordinating this section, SMEAG wants to continue and step up its support for local authorities to put water at the heart of their projects, as its availability could limit development projects.

As part of its work under the LIFE Eau&Climat project, SMEAG, on behalf of the CLE of the Garonne Valley SAGE, is organising a series of webinars designed to illustrate water management practices that can be adapted to - and help mitigate - the effects of climate change. This work is being carried out in partnership with various players and tools in the Adour-Garonne basin : the Adour-Garonne Water Agency, the Tarn-Aveyron Watershed Association, the Local Water Commission of the Neste and Gascony Rivers SAGE, Aménag'eau - CD 33 and the Toulouse Urban Planning Agency.

These webinars will help local authorities and technicians by presenting the tools and players involved in water management, and raise awareness of the challenges of climate change in relation to water and urban planning. They take place on Fridays between 9.30am and 10.30am :

  • 20 September 2024 : Introduction to water policy => presentation materials and the replay are already available
  • 18 October 2024 : Climate change => registration is now open
  • 22 November 2024 : Quantitative challenges for water resources
  • 10 January 2025 : Water quality issues
  • 07 February 2025 : Flood risks
  • 14 March 2025 : Rainwater management
  • 11 April 2025 : Biodiversity and wetlands

These webinars are open to all. Registration, presentation materials and replays are available on the SAGE Vallée de la Garonne website : https://www.sage-garonne.fr/thematiques/eau-et-amenagement/webinaire-e-a-u/
